How in-house dermatology helps
Specialist confirmation of lesion type and stage gives your MDS coordinator clearer source documentation to code from. We do not complete the MDS — we help make sure the underlying record is accurate.
We are not a wound care service and we do not replace your wound team. We work alongside them as another set of specialty eyes, catching dermatologic issues early — including the non-healing areas that turn out to be skin cancer, atypical infection, or inflammatory skin disease rather than a wound.
What surveyors look at
- Whether Section M coding matches the clinical record and the bedside observation
- Whether the source documentation supports what was coded
